I've spent two years as an ACM officer. Most of that time has been spent in executive leadership, working toward my vision of what ACM can be. As Vice President for the last year, I've had the opportunity to focus in on the areas of the org that have huge potential for providing value to our members.
Now I think it's time to focus on the part of ACM that I have the most potential to grow for the benefit of the org. I'm running for Project Officer because I understand the huge impact that the tech we develop has on the functioning of the org. Projects like Hackkit and ClubKit make running the organization easier than ever, allowing us to reach a large scale that surpasses any other student organization.
My first goal as projects officer is to build upon the improvements already made by the projects team to give our current projects the best user experience yet. To accomplish this, I will reduce the number of bugs and improve their user interfaces. In order to maintain such massive codebases, I will need a bigger team.
My second goal as projects officer will be to build a team of talented developers to help maintain ACM projects. I will do so providing/curating the resources necessary for anyone that is willing to learn web development and contribute to our projects. In order to find and nurture talent, I want to make the path to the team as clear and open as possible. I believe the software that ACM projects produces should be representative of the overall talent of the UTSA tech community.
Overall, I want to build a reputation for our projects team as one of the best student developer groups on any college campus in Texas. I believe doing so has the potential to open a lot of doors for our community.
