Projects Officer

Summary

The ACM UTSA Projects Officer research project ideas, initializes projects if there is interest and hosts workshops. Some of the responsibilities the Projects Officer would undertake can include the following:
  • Organize and plan the Intro to Tech meetings.
    • Intro to Tech meetings are designed for underclassmen students that new to technology. These meetings may cover more basic topics and introductory level material relating to technology. Some of the topics covered in 20-21/21-22 are:
      • Exploring CS Degree Concentrations
      • Introduction to Git/Github
      • Introduction to Machine Learning with scikit-learn
      • Introduction to Docker
      • HTML/CSS Fundamentals of Web Development
      • Computer Vision
  • Coordinate with other officers for meeting preparation, such as the Technical Officer for recording/streaming setup and the Media Officer for flyers and advertising.
  • Point members to resources and connections.

Role Expectations

The Projects Committee shall be headed by the Projects Committee Officer. The Projects Committee shall advocate personal projects, open-source development and collaboration among Chapter members.
  • Maintaining The Chapter’s GitHub repository.
  • Encouraging members to pursue the development of personal projects to enhance their academic and professional experience.
  • Giving members training on the tools used to participate in personal projects.
